MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – January 12, 2015 5:00 PM
Selectmen Present: Eric R. Munson, Jr., Steven DellaGiustina and Thomas Paine
Also Present:
Ed Deming
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.
Steve DellaGiustina received a phone call from Senator Donald Humason’s Aid in regards to the passage of a Special Act that was petitioned to the General Court.
Lester M. Walker, an Officer of the Police Department of the Town of Tolland, may be instated as a Police Officer in such position until he reaches 70 years of age; provided however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of such office. Lester M. Walker, must be examined by a physician to determine such capability.
It was stated that the petition was not processed through the Senator’s Office and would have to be repeated. Ed voiced that the process is only necessary if he is participating in the Hampden County Retirement, which he is not. VFIS will be contacted to verify insurance requirements and Chief Deming will have a conversation with Lester Walker confirming his interest to continue as a Tolland Police Officer.
Ed stated that he receives phone calls via his cell phone from taxpayers regarding road conditions. Steve stated that there is no guarantee that roads will be completely clear during a snow storm, due to manpower, equipment availability and the intensity of the storm.
Meeting adjourned at 6:30PM
Respectfully submitted,
Margaret McClellan
